The journal articles consist mainly of the introduction to the research, literature review, methodology, discussion and conclusion. Therefore, it is important to understand what the articles seek to address and make mental notes of the main points. Start by mentioning the article you are critiquing and the author. It is critical to make notes when studying the articles and list down the main points and argument of the article. The critique should start by identifying the purpose of the article and the main idea or arguments. The evaluation should consider how convincing the arguments presented in the article are.
Present the assumptions, the significance and applicability, and make clear comparison with other existing theories or research. Proceed to give a response to the issues that you have highlighted. Therefore, your response should present your assessment of the article, these are; the main concerns of the paper and some of the issues that it does not adequately address. Remember that an article review does more than just focus on the negative aspects of the paper but also highlights the positive.
The conclusion of an article review is usually very short and straight to the point. It includes a statement summarizing the general evaluation of the critique. Summarize the key aspects identified in the critique, giving the justification for the points. You can also give suggestion on the areas that may need improvement.
