Project 2 (Major Project 45%) Overview and Criteria

 

The purpose of this project is to investigate how sport organisations can improve, for a selected target market, either the fan experience or the participant experience.

 

For students who select the fan experience option, possible areas of analysis include:

 

– How sports and leagues can improve their fan experience

– How clubs and teams can improve their fan experience

– How sponsors can improve the experiences they create for fans

– How the media (especially broadcasters) can improve the experiences they create for fans

– How major sport event organising committees can improve the experiences they create for fans (either at the event or through digital media strategy)

 

 

For students who select the participant experience option, possible areas of analysis include:

 

– How sport organisations (i.e. national and state sport federations) can improve the participant experience

– How clubs and associations can improve the participant experience

– How private sport and fitness operators can improve the participant experience

– How community based sport events can improve the participant experience

– Examine the relevant literature discussing the similarities and differences between key concepts and theories

– This section should be no shorter than 750 words and no longer than 1250 words

3.0 Methodology

 

– Discuss the methodology employed for the study

– Highlight the strengths and limitations of the adopted methods

– This section should be approximately 500 words in length

– (Important. Primary data must be collected for this study. The two main options for data collections include surveys or in-depth interviews. For those conducting a survey a minimum of 20 responses must be collected. For those undertaking in-depth interviews a minimum of five (15-20 minute) interviews must be completed).

4.0 Results

 

– Discuss the findings to emerge from your data collection

– The length of this section will vary dependent on the data collection method employed for the study. The word range for this section will vary from 750-1250 words.

– Discuss the findings from the study in the context of the literature i.e. compare and contrast your findings to the literature

– Outline any recommendations to emerge from your study i.e. highlight 3-4 key recommendations

– In one short paragraph briefly conclude the project

– The length of this section will range from 500-750 words.

Written Presentation

 

– A cover page must be attached with name and student number

– A table of contents (with page numbers) must be attached to the paper. The maximum mark for any paper without a table of contents is 50%.

– A reference list (in A-Z order) that follows the correct Harvard reference system must be attached to the paper
